Just found this in the kitchen. Is it a Spotted Ladybug - Psyllobora vigintimaculata? Is it rare or unusual? {wrong guess - see below}

Don't know but they might be able to tell you...Lost Ladybug Project

First - wow - what a neat beetle! Second, that pattern doesn't look *just right* for the insect you have quoted . . . and seeing as how there are 160 pages of ladybird images on BugGuide . . . suunto? Hello, suunto? Swampy?

Sage 08-31-2010 07:35 PM

I just submitted it to "Lost Ladybug Project", thanks, hava!

This one I've got in my personal file on non-natives. Try Propylea quatuordecimpunctata and see what you guys think. There's light variants of quite a few lady beetles.

That's one snazzy dresser! Very cute buggie.

Wow! Great job, Lib! That does look like mine! We've spent the last hour finding, catching, refrigerating and photographing this little tiny bug! Here are some shots Roger got~

And now that I know it's an invasive, do I have to feed it to the spiders?

Equilibrium 08-31-2010 09:27 PM

I don't know much about it other than it's non-native. If it's invasive.... it's flying in under my radar. I'd toss a non-native in a spider web. ;) Mommy must feed her spiderlings.

You refrigerate your bugs? ummmm - why?
