Sunday 2nd update on Spider 2

When I went back out to check a little later, I found the new dinner item had been eaten as a tasty dessert. Now there is nothing left for tomorrow.

Monday update Spider 1

Monday update Spider 2

~Spiders! Eeek!-p1060410.jpg Spidey 2 had a fresh meal this evening and soon after, a heavy rain hit. Even though the rain came straight down outside the balcony, the web's area did get wet. After the storm passed, the orb web was gone except for one thread from the balcony rail to the plant. I hope 2 is still there and will rebuild soon.

These are the two cutest shots of many, and today the big wasp was gone. I don't know if was totally consumed overnight or it fell off the web.

~Spiders! Eeek!-p1060497.jpg How cute is that face?

~Spiders! Eeek!-p1060436.jpg Looks like the little spider is sucking out the wasp from the bottom, doncha think?

I would not consider that boredom. I am fascinated by spiders and what they do, how they do it and all of the intricacies of the whole web thing. I can watch an active spider for a long time before I get distracted by some other critter in the yarden. I was watching a spider eat a couple of other spiders last night long after I should have gone to bed. The web was spun earlier in the day and I went out at night with my trusty super duper flashlight and found that he/she had caught a couple of their kin in their lovely web. It was eating one and the other was mostly wrapped up. I checked this morning and web, spider and meals were gone...

spider3 ~Hatching alert~

~Spidey 1 Update and hatching alert!

All was fairly quiet yesterday but today the egg case looked strange. On closer examination, I saw baby spiders coming out! I'm sure tomorrow I'll have more pix showing the babies on the web.
