I saw quite a few made this way. I wonder if this is the way this variety of spider always builds them.
Never noticed webs that way before but I really wasn't looking for them either......
This type of web is constructed by a spider in the family Linyphiidae known as the 'bowl and doily spider' (Frontinella pyramitela). See Bowl and Doily Spider Web photo - lejun photos at pbase.com for a well-lit example, and Picasa Web Albums - Cynthia for the spider herself.

Love the symmetry of the first and the dewiness of the second. Great job!

Thank you Lorax
I found the second one while walking along the shore. It sparkled and caught my eye.
I don't mind walking through them as long as it isn't with my face!

Got one from the Cedarburg Bog site. I think I have another one from this past week that was full of rain drops. Might have been from ChiBo.

Pretty sturdy with the leaves getting caught up in them.

hava> that web was huge I tell you. It had to be 3' long. I found the other web. It was prettier in real life with the raindrops. MaggyNoLia> "Maybe one of these days I'll see one of these webs before I walk through them......". I never see them before they end up over my face and stuck in my hair unless the light hits them right. I'm always sucking in webs so don't feel bad.
