poison ~What bit me?

Yesterday morning, in the car, Roger tried to show me a spider, but it jumped away. He thought it was a jumpy. Ok, so we drive for hours, never saw spidey again.
After we got home, I discovered a big, itchy, hard, very hard, and enlarging bump above the nape of my neck, into the hairline. I applied Benedryl which stopped the itching. This morning, the lump remains, but orange-colored, crystal-clear scab-like thing with a sharp point was atop it.
Do jumpies bite and leave this kind of sore, or did something else get me? I had walked along the Niagara Gorge slope for about an hour.

Large jumping spiders are capable of inflicting a bite, but that usually is very little consequence - see Phidippus audax
