I saw the Modern Farmer article last year. Pro-monarch butterfly folks were all happy about it. I did not see much to be happy about because the farmer in the article is still spraying all the corn with herbicides so the milkweed still does not have a chance.

Huegerich said he used herbicides on GMO corn and conventional corn, even though theoretically he shouldn’t have to use it on his genetically modified crop.
Food Freedom writer does not seem to understand the GMO corn. RoundUp is the herbicide you use in fields of RoundUp Ready Corn. That said, the way I read the Modern Farmer article was Huegerich was using pesticides on the corn even though it was supposed to be rootworm resistant.

The caterpillar does all the work but the butterfly gets all the publicity.

Testbiotech, a nonprofit organization started with independent (‘non-biased’) biotech research in mind, recently released a report on the spread of genetically altered plants. The organization says GMOs are spreading throughout the world without any controls in place to stop them. They have escaped their intended areas and are moving into the environment and even infringing on wild plant populations. This is happening everywhere and something must be done to stop it before it worsens.

In the U.S., Canada, Central America, Japan, China, Australia, and Europe, genetically modified organisms are spreading into the food system. This is happening with…
