The class of animals we know as the "HERPS"

Reptiles - snakes, lizards, turtles, the order of the crocodiles plus a few real oddities, the amphisbaenids, and the tuataras!
Amphibians -frogs, toads, salamanders, and the newts

A brief excerpt from Wiki: Herpetology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Given the crazily warm weather this winter, I anticipate hearing Chorus frogs any day now, and I hope to get some good photos of them this year. Hopefully, I'll share a few shots here.

It's SPRING!
I found the first toad of the year while raking. Poor little guy was so cold he could hardly move his stiff leggies.

First snake of the season, it was a bit drab and washed-out in appearance, likely having just emerged from its hibernating quarters...

I've seen ground skinks and five-lined skinks in the past two days. I was surprised to see some really large ones as well as the little guys.

A friend posted one word on Facebook yesterday.
"Robins!"
I replied with one word and a photograph.
"Turtles!"

We have a giant bullfrog that managed to overwinter in our pond. Usually they don't make it. We've tried to relocate them to the river in the fall but YOU try to catch a frog that doesn't want to be caught!

If you look very closely at its (her's?) hind leg, you can see a trio of mosquitos having lunch.

Hello Kitcat....Welcome to the site!
What an excellent photo! I'm already looking forward to seeing and hearing more about the interests you have.

I don't know if you've noticed it yet but W.G. also has a photo contest. A place to share your nature orientated photos.

You should submit that one...I never knew or even thought about mosquitoes feasting upon a frog before.
I've always thought of them as dining upon warm blooded critters.
