yes, I have had them charge me!
Nothing more disturbing about peeking in a blue bird box and finding a big huge snake coiled in a tight ball starring back at you and your nose. Worse of all - the blue bird babies all gone.

or going out one morning to drink your coffee and watch the martins fly around and there is a black snake twisting itself up the pole.

Electric fences are really the greastest invention right after electricity.

snake1 another blacksnake

I opened my barn door and this is what I saw. Look how wavy it's body is. Is that what they do when they are preparing to strike? My cat jumped over it so I got brave and walked past it. Next thing I know it is climbing the barn wall. They are amazing climbers!

That's why we made predator guards for all our bluebird poles. I still can't help the other birds that nest in shrubs and trees. I think a snake got one of the cardinal eggs in the shrub by the front door. We do have a milk snake that seems to like hanging out on top of the pile in the compost bin. It's always a, ahem, treat to find him there after opening the lid.

I see you've moved up the food chain to a lungwort. Way to go!!! Just a hint.... never ever ever type the "Z" word or you'll get a new avatar in the blink of an eye.

No idea what the Z word is but I guess I need to avoid any word that begins with Z!
