I was at our middle school a few years back to attend the spring play. I saw a woman doing something very obnoxious. I first offered to give her a hand which would have stopped the behaviour, but she declined and resumed her activity. I realized I had my camera in hand, so I began taking pictures of her as she continued being obnoxious. She became very upset and flustered until she finally stopped what she was doing and left. The other people in the audience who were watching all this gave me a standing ovation! This was in a controlled circumstance, I wouldn't recommend doing this in you are alone on the street. You never know what kind of people you are dealing with. You do need to be a bit street smart.

I clean a road in my community that I had adopted many years ago. On many occasions, as I am picking up trash, people drive by, beep their horn and throw more trash out the window!! One of the worst items to pick up is the cigarette butt. So many people throw them out the window. One of my friends told me that the filters were biodegradable. People either just don't know or don't want to know!

Cigarette filters AREN'T biodegradable..... what was that person smoking??? Try taking a photo of the license plate and call it in.... that's what we do when were working roads. The little piggies can get fined up to $1500 on a first offense in IL.

IMHO, tossing cigarette/cigar butts out of a motor vehicle window should be considered not simple littering, but improper disposal of a hazardous substance that wold incur a much higher penalty. As an aside, I was fueling my car yesterday at a local convenience store when a middle-aged man came by, tossing his cigarette into the street as he was on his way into the store to buy more cigarettes. At about the same time, I noticed a young couple just a few yards away puffing away while I was pumping gas. We are a nation of idiots...
