Oh Boy!!! Can I ever get you some before photos of some of the wastelands by me. You'll take one look and be reaching for smelling salts... can we say phragmites in unison??? I'll get you a photo of what I'm up against. You'll look at it and go outside and kiss your ground thanking God you don't own my invasive acres.

Equilibrium,

I'm sorry you have such a battle ahead of you. Please do share the photos. I'd love to see what you are doing.

~smile~

It might have to wait a few days. We're supposed to get heavy snows starting tomorrow morning tapering off by Thursday. What I've got is a couple acres of phragmites. It's sickening. I wish I had before photos of the upland areas of this property that I have cleaned up. The difference is dramatic after you start hacking away little by little. It seems like you're bailing out the ocean with a bucket but... after a couple years you get somewhere and start seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Same thing will happen with the phragmites. I've got snow shoes and that's how I'm going it to get it. Die phragmites DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!

Take your time. I know what you mean about not taking before pictures...I wish I'd taken more. (not that in two years time I have much to show for it)

I'm fine with just after pics too.

LOL! (Die phragmites DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!) <---don't count the "I"s not that was not a cut and paste.

The uplands, which are a remnant oak hickory savanna that was totally inundated with everything from Asian honeysuckle to buckthorn and garlic mustard, still look pretty bad but there's hope... last year I had first ever rejuvenation of some of the trees. I had oak and hickory babies. Clear out the understory of the allelopathic plants and the buckthorns so the sun can hit the floor and it's amazing what starts happening. Momma was so proud of her babies.

A savanna sounds wonderful. I've always found that look beautiful. Keep up the good fight. Seeing progress will keep you going, I'm sure.

You should be proud of all of your work!

Equilibrium is too modest. She may have farther to go, but she has already done wonders with her place.
