and small to rear their young.

We too are a nest.
A group of people fitting together.
We settle into this nest.
We fit one within the other.

To nestle is to lie close and snug.
It is a place we call home.

Some nests are built in the spring to rear young, others are built in the fall to prepare for Winter.
It is a place to feel safe and secure in none the less.....

Lets see the variety of nests and dens you have found
under logs, in the ground or while wandering around with your head up in the trees.

Beautiful havalotta!

I have one current contribution. Last week while taking pictures of the neighborhood trees, I noticed this tiny little nest way up high.

It almost looks like it's held in the palm of a hand.

Don't forget.... Insects, fish and a variety of other creatures also make wonderful nests to display here.

I had found a goose nest one spring by going in the opposite direction she tried luring me....
Ha Ha She had it nicely lined with a feathery down.

These Barn Swallows have been nesting over this door for years and have 2-3 broods a year. There is another nest on the other side of the building, which is part of the complex where the Peregrines nest! They are so cute, don't you think?

Awesome photos!!! Lighting was bad for me but here's a few losers. Please... don't throw any rotten fruit at me for these photos. That first one is a two-fer.

Nice nest photos, everyone.

Sage Your swallows are real tweeties...
Ooooo a double decker Equill.
Back lighting can darken many photos.
You could try adjusting your exposure on them a little to bring in a bit more depth.
