Default FYI: Article on restoring 25 sq miles of floodplain

This was in the NYT, just thought others might be interested:

"In what experts are calling the biggest levee-busting operation ever in North America, the brothers plan to return the muddy river to its ancient floodplain, coaxing back plants and animals that flourished there when President Thomas Jefferson first had the land surveyed in 1804."

I came across this article the other day and loved the story. I hope that their project succeeds brilliantly and helps to change attitudes toward levees and the like.

That's a fascinating plan. I don't see how Louisiana can lose with this idea especially with the restoration of native plants and animals. But I bet they had a fight to get this working.
