"Human population growth at an exponential rate" This NEEDS to be discussed. More people use more resources and they're all trying to keep up with the Joneses. Why is this subject so taboo?

Equilibrium,

Youíre right that the idea of controlling population growth is definitely taboo to many people. I already mentioned religious reasons. Many people believe most birth control methods are going against Godís will.

Iím pretty sure that in terms of invasive plants youíve come across the attitude of ďThis is what I want and if it isnít illegal, nobody should tell me what to doĒ. Some people have a similar attitude on this topic. There are people out there who have an idea of what the right number of children in a family is, and itís not always zero, one or two. Adoption seems like a good way around this to some people, but not to all of them.

Iím including a couple of links to the Population Connection site. I havenít researched this organization, but they have email action alerts, and their old name was the first organization that came to mind when this topic came up. Iím going to give more thought before deciding whether or not Iím going to act on this, but hereís the information.

This link is to their ďAbout UsĒ page. Iím including a section from it.

I read everything at their site. It doesn't seem like it was a good idea to legally change their name from Zero Population Growth that everyone could readily recognize as being a site about population control to Population Connection.

How about a new organization titled something catchy such as 'Birth Control in the World's Water Supply' or 'Shut down US Borders While Placing Freezes on Legal Immigration'? Think that might get the point across?

Our world population doubled in the last 40 years. Albert Einstein's definition of insanity was repeating the same things and expecting different results.
