I'm leaning towards sweet grass. i really don't think the soil here is that dry. I would say it is "mesic."

This depends on what you want........ Sweetgrass spreads by underground rhizomes, its not a clumping grass. If you want to control the spread, you will have to put in a barrier or plant it in pots set in the ground. Its used for erosion control on slopes. In moist situations it will really spread.

After posting about sweet grass, I changed my mind to bottlebrush grass! But the deschampsia is beautiful. The USDA lists it as native to Northeast MN. hmmmm...
