Default Bark Bird Feeder

This is the original bird feeder I bought from a cottage woodworker. I sealed it with water based coats of polyurethane. Everything about this birdhouse is attractive. The base was plywood. The bark will split if you choose pieces that are too large. The base and ceiling are plywood. I copied this design as a gift for a friend. Mine didn't turn out as nice as the original. It did turn out. With more practice I could create one that is almost as nice as the original.

That is very attractive and unusual.

Then start practicing! It's a gift any friend would treasure.

I might make another one. I think it depends on whether or not I can get my hands on decent bark. You make one and see what I mean about the bark splitting when you try to nail it> frustrating. You are right. There are a few friends of mine ogling that bird feeder.

Oh, I want one of those. Did you hang it or mount it on a post?

You better hide yours from public viewing.

It is in the garage. I slapped more coats of sealant on it and forgot to hang it outside. Another thing to put on my to do list. I will hang it. The squirrels chew everything they can get their teeth on. Mounting it would not be a good idea.

I would like one of those for me personally. The bark for a roof instead of shingles makes it look all the more appealing.
