Default Windows XP support ended

We have one out of three members using XP.

My advice- get rid of that OS now. M$ extensions will end.

Security will be the biggest problem for those sticking with XP. Keep it and youíre living dangerously.

Long term fix-

Linux Federation | Linux For Everyone

3 easy Linux alternatives for Windows XP refugees who don't want a new PC | PCWorld

Quick fix- outdated Windows 7. Stable & currently supported.

According to MicroShaft; minimum requirements for Win 7-

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Canít upgrade- get a new computer now; not tomorrow. Prices for new/used machines are way down.

What to do if you love Windows XP and hate Windows 8 - TechRepublic

Canít afford a new/used computer-

What to do if you absolutely can?t, or won?t, give up XP | PCWorld

Potential Fix; stable version should be available at yearís end-

M$ is Microsoft. XP is Microsoft Windows XP, which is a version of Windows released in 2001. OS is Operating System, which are Windows, Mac OSX.

If you are currently running Windows XP, there are no security fixes. This means if in the future, someone finds a security hole in Windows XP, they WON'T release a update to fix the security hole. Windows XP has been out for 13 years, so most of the holes have been fixed. But its always possible.

Click on the Start button, move the cursor to Control Panel, when the menu appears on the right click on System. That will tell you which Windows operating system you have.

Because of my very literal way of thinking I had only "moved the cursor to Control Panel" as you had instructed.
I since tried "clicking upon" things and see Windows Vista. Sounds like I'm ok then.

Thanks NeWisc.

Control Panel is in the blue colored list that appears after you click on the Start button.

The System item is in the white menu that appears on the right when you hold the cursor on Control Panel. It may take a moment before the white menu appears. The System item is down near the bottom of the list.

Whoops, I posted after you had figured it out.

Yes, I believe Vista is still being supported.
