Default What kind of moth is this?

Can anyone help me identify this moth?

The pictures aren't that great, but when I aimed my camera down to take a few more photos, my dog, Max, promptly ate it.

Bad dog. I think it's called a Modest Sphinx, Pachysphinx modesta

Yep that's the one. It was different and much bigger than the usual types of moths I see around here. Thanks for identifying the moth and including a link about it.

You are correct about Max, baaaad dog. I think I heard him burp afterwords.
