 Click on photo for a larger image. These little dudes fell out of a squirrel leaf nest where [lazy] mama laid her eggs. Great Horned owls. They got hoisted back up into their tree in this laundry basket where mama and dad fed them along. Once they were too big for the basket I made a dog-proof fence on the ground with a couple of perches and a shelter. They grew and grew and one day fledged and joined the owls of Nebraska. My entire village got a lesson in owls, wildlife management, and how to help wildlife without interferring. Donna in Nebraska |

Oh my word buteojamaicens. That is one of the best photos I have seen of owlettes. Thank you for telling the story.
I am trying to get photos of birds Sage. I am trying. All I have is a photo of a chicken. It stood still long enough. I know nobody wants to see photos of a chicken.

Don't be upset with me ok? I learned how to get my camera in super macro mode. I deleted the chicken pictures. I took a few hundred pictures today with my new trick. My chip had to be cleared so I could practice. I will get another chicken photo for you. Chickens are stuck on the ground and they don't fly out of my picture frame. I'd prefer to get pictures of native birds but I don't do too well with anything that moves.

This young Red-tailed Hawk we saw today was so huge! He was flying around through trees and caught a snake on the ground. He gave our new long lens a workout!
A couple days ago there were many small birds in this park, but today they were silent and invisible.

Chicken photos you shall all have. All I need to do is go back to where my faithful subjects were and click away. They come toward me looking for a handout.
Sage, Look at your first photo. Your Coopers looks pregnant. You aren't seeing any small birds around because they're all in his belly.
