I thought I would start a thread for bird feeder pictures.

Most of these are from last summer...

Nice photos! They all seem so sharp and bright; how did you do that?

How did I do that? Part luck, I guess. For every picture that is posted, there is probably 20 more pics of that same bird, that aren't as good.

That particular feeder is up against a bluff, so it gets just the right light in the morning. The background is dark and the light is coming from behind where I am sitting.
I always get good pictures there in late morning, just as the sun comes over the bluff, but before the light fills the background.

I have a big lens (400 mm) so I can get sharp close ups. You can see male grosbeak on the ground, he is in the shade, so he is not as sharp and bright as the others.

Well captured collection, joepyeweed!

1) is a chickadee on the dowel shoved through the suet cake. It's on the balcony floor cuz I get reported to mgt if I hang it up.
2) a pair of Northern Cardinals on the tray under the feeder (a condo rule )

Good grief, Sage. You have a condo with an HOA?

All condos have them! But they provide maintenance, landscaping, poisons for the lawn, swimming pool, snow plowing and RULES! For a couple hundred a month, of course.

Well, with RULES too, what a deal! ROFLMAO.......hmmm, I can see condo's are not going to be an option down the line. DH has rather er, "strong" opinions about this sort of thing.

Here are a few shots of bluebirds at our feeders just the other day. Shots 2-4 were taken while it was raining.
