a couple of pictures from the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge.
the first one is 3 cormorants each in a different stage of leaving the water, the second is 2 mute swans, yes, there are actually 2 swans in that picture...

I do not recall seeing a requirement that the bird is alive, so just in case there is a special category for dead birds, here is a dead cooper's hawk...

You would have to ask bridget1964 about that, she is the one holding the "specimen". I always joke that she will pick up anything that's dead.
