I think its a Mom because she has that motherly look in her eye. :-)

We're going to the wildlife refuge tomorrow to see the eagle mom on the nest and look for the osprey too. Will post pix if we get lucky.

I have no idea whether its a male or a female. That photo is regal looking though.

Talking ~My Merlin~

I was so excited to see my first Merlin and didn't even know what it was til we got home and I researched it. He is just so adorable! Probably traveling through Buffalo on his migration path.

The difference in color is due to the different time of day, #1 being midday and #2 late in the afternoon. We were astonished that he was in the very same tree later. We checked again today but he was gone.

We supposedly have them by me but I've never seen one. Nice shots Sage. What was he eating?
