They can focus on a prey item while stooping (diving straight down) at around 200 mph! I can barely see if it's too windy!

We have been watching a Peregrine nest on the Canadian side of the Niagara gorge. We watch from Terrapin Point on the American side.
On June 15, Nik Wallenda is going to do his high wire act, walking across the gorge, very near where the peregrines are nesting. Pefa parents are at their most aggressive during this time.  Niagara Gorge Peregrine nest site - we counted at least four eyasses today!  Distance from which above shot was taken and one of the spots from which we view this site  Athena, the largest female eyass at the University of Buffalo Peregrine nest. She was fitted with a solar-powered transmitter one week after banding Athena's dad, Yankee, on left. He was hatched in the Niagara gorge. Mom, BB, from Detroit, on right, trying to get into nestbox to prevent her four eyasses from being banded. BB feeding Athena after she got the transmitter, as seen on the webcam

WOW I knew female raptors were usually larger than the males but it is certainly apparent in the pic of Yankee and BB!
