owl Barn Owl Video Cam

The Starr Ranch Sactuary Web site has a great live video cam of a barn owl with her 7 eggs.

This big bird is really fun to watch, and she's very active at night. I watched her eating a critter around 2:00 a.m. last night.

Egg 1 laid 01/02/2010
Egg 2 laid 01/04/2010
Egg 3 laid 01/06/2010
Egg 4 laid 01/09/2010
Egg 5 laid 01/11/2010
Egg 6 laid 01/13/2010
Egg 7 laid 01/16/2010

Incubation is normally around 30 days, starting with the 1st egg laid. This means her eggs will start hatching soon.

Starr Ranch Sanctuary is a 4,000 acre preserve owned and operated by the National Audubon Society.

Enjoy!

Totally cool! Thank you for sharing!!!

I realize it's California, but still surprised the eggs are laid this time of year.

owl

Mrs. Barn Owl's eggs are hatching!!

live video cam of a barn owl

2 eggs cracked open and revealed baby owls over the last couple of days. Tune in to watch the other 5 hatch!!

The Owl family is located in the hollow of tree and the camera is placed so that viewers can easily see the nest, birds, eggs, etc.

Tune in during the evening hours to watch Mr. Barn Owl delivery tasty rodents to Mrs. Owl.
Mrs. Owl is biting off bits of rodent din-din and feeding them to her babies. YUM!

I know nothing about owls, so watching this cam has just been fascinating to me!!

Quietman, I totally understand your attraction to the owl species now. They are amazing birds.
