Often they poop on their own legs to cool off
I have read this, and wondered if perhaps they were giving their legs a much needed bath. It was not a hot day, so it doesn't seem as though they needed to cool down. It was after that three-day tropical depression/nor'easter of last week, and they were wading in what is ordinarily someone's yard. It was odd seeing them wade back and forth through the water--they had been at it for a good 20 minutes when I finally decided to leave.
