I won't call this a rare bird but it is definitely an unusual bird to find at your feeder. This guy has been hanging around here for the last couple of weeks. It's a Monk Parakeet, most probably wild. Introduced escapees that are setting up populations in our country. While it's nice to look out and see a parakeet I would much rather look out back and see a Carolina Parakeet, but that's not going to happen. The last native parakeets in the US died off sometime around 1918 I think.

I had always wanted one of those as a pet but never pursued it.
They look like they could become quite mean if they chose to be.
