I've been meaning to post the following picture for several days now. I happened to be out back and spotted an Anhinga swimming and fishing. As can be seen the Anhinga's body is completely under the water with just the head showing. I guess some people feel that when swimming and not diving the long neck and head above the water looks similar to a snake and that is why the Anhinga is nicknamed the snakebird. Personally I don't think it much looks like a snake in the water so I guess it's a good thing I wasn't the one giving it a nickname.

Someone told me there was a news article on channel 2? earlier this week on how to make money selling photos on the computer. Did anyone catch this or the sight they mentioned? It would be great to make some money doing what I love!

Speaking of their tails, the other common nickname besides 'snakebird' is 'water turkey.' I think sometimes that the same committee that named the constellations came up with the common names for birds.
