Jack, I read that story feeling sad it had to end. Still the program has done so much to bring back those birds and taught the community so very much about saving and reintroducing a species.
There are many people in the world still working in conservation and keeping an eye on these creatures. The winds will change again in time and people will support ways to keep the earth from becoming some "Blade Runner" type dystopian world. ( I saw the movie and loved it.) The link to Washington Post article was about those involved in the project and had some really good photos. Thanks for the share.

I'm sad to see this program ending, but I know from reading the Operation Migration posts, that many people will continue to watch over the birds and do whatever they can to protect them. I think OM has a plan in place to continue to monitor the Easter Migratory Population and their nests/fledglings.
