Each fall, ICF cooperates with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to count Sandhill Cranes as they fly into their roosting areas in the evening. One major migration staging area near our headquarters in southern Wisconsin is the Wisconsin River. This year, we surveyed the five-mile stretch of the river between Wisconsin Dells and Portage following a major snowstorm in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. The result was phenomenal – 10,000 cranes, a new record!
