Out checking the bird boxes this afternoon, the bluebirds are ready to fledge and so are the chickadees. I was so amazed at seeing the baby chickadees, they have all the coloration of their parents and look like adults, so darn cute! The bluebirds still have their dark grey feathers, the blue, white and red will come with time. All are alert and waiting for their next meal with mouths wide open!

These shots were taken two weeks ago (yes, that's how crazy life has been around here), and Canada geese are way too common these days, but baby birds always make me smile.

Today I saw a morning dove building its nest in our Virginia creeper vine just outside our back entry. Looks like it will be their new home for the year. Last year, the red poles used it as their hide out and nesting spot. Once the Virginia leafs out, you wouldn't even know there was a nest hidden within hadn't you seen them building it previous. It's the perfect spot for them as whatever parakeet seed remains I have, I toss onto the porch ledge for them.

From within, I witnessed their mating upon the porch rail, their daily feeding upon the leftover seeds, and the hauling of tiny grasses and twigs from the floral beds. How I love the little rest area I have created within my home. A spot to just lay with a cup of coffee in hand, a fresh newspaper to read and an American movie classic playing in the back ground.

2 of my favorite floral beds lay just beyond that very window. I will begin sketching their layout today. The sketches I create, reveal what's planted where. They are used as an aid whenever I add or remove items. It also prevents me from disturbing areas where bulbs or florals may still be underground or at rest.

I like your dove story and the description of the rest area in your home havalotta.
