Linrose,
I was to this island two summers ago, Hog Island. It is a National Audubon Camp. I went there for an educators' week. It was fantastic! We have a webcam on an osprey nest in the refuge where I volunteer. We also have 3 eggs! Wow, that's great bridget! I'm glad your osprey managed to get that plastic bag from around her neck. Scary! It looks like both nests have some flotsam in them, is that a mylar balloon? The Hog Island nest has a plastic mesh bag of some kind in it.
I enjoy watching the birds tend to their nests and eggs, It's amazing how they can be so gentle with those huge talons! Lucky you to get to go to Hog Island, I love Maine. |

Didn't realize there were so many osprey cams. We have one up here in MN at the Landscape Arboretum (Highly recommend checking it out if you are ever up this way).

The last 2 times I checked on the osprey cam up in MN I never saw any chicks. Did they hatch and she's sitting on them to keep them warm?

linrose's 2 babies have gotten big.... they were preening themselves when I checked in. Max's osprey is still sitting. It's got to be getting close to when her eggs will hatch!!!

Aren't they so awkward at this age, all wings and feet! It looks like they use their wings to try and steady themselves while trying to walk around the nest. They're already sprucing up the nest by picking up birch bark and sticks and placing them somewhere else. Now they are eating 12 fish a day!
