Got my first male ruby throat of the year today at my feeders.

Me too!

We saw our first ruby-throat on Friday, 5-3-13!

I saw the first two sitting side by side on the tomato cage today. Definitely a stop what I'm doing moment.

Yay hava! Nice to know they made it up north to you!

We still have a couple of males and at least one female here. I'm watching for migrants and when the males will leave. I was surprised today to see a praying mantis on the hummingbird feeder. The hummers were not amused and buzzed around him but refused to share the feeder. I think it was here that someone posted about mantises able to capture and kill a hummingbird. I wonder if that was why it was there or just looking for insects. Luckily he left soon after I took his picture.

2 whizzed by our family room window today. Shocked the heck out of me!!! I realized it's already September and it's time to increase my ratio of sugar to water in our feeders.

linrose> Interesting photo. We have them around here but I've never seen 1 at any of our hummingbird feeders.

I have had praying mantis on my hummingbird feeders. National Geographic had a picture of a praying mantis who captured a hummingbird in West Chester Pennsylvania.

This female found a nice place to rest in a candelabra. Apparently the cup where the candle goes is just the right size!

Oh how cute!

Haven't seen any hummers in a couple days.
