Okay, waterfowl experts, what is this? I am voting for a solitary sandpiper, based on minimal photos in my field guide but I am not convinced. It was in a pond at my daughter's stable, probably migrating somewhere.

Now why would we mind a beauty like that. Keep them coming. That's my hubbies favorite bird. I've always wanted to purchase a carving of a young wood duck about to jump from its nest...A hole in a tree.

I took a browse through my guide and that's the very same conclusion I came up with. The only other, with the white ring around its eyes had yellow legs.

Holy moly, the wood duck is the most elegant of all ducks IMHO! What a sight!

And Sage, you are so lucky to have access to really great wetlands near you, I especially am fond of the Mallards, they remind me of home.

Oh, there are Canadian (as we call 'em) geese goslings everywhere right now! In the water, on the grass, in the parking lots! They are so cute! Goose poop is all over the place!
