Nice! Not an animal I've ever encountered outside of books and films.

I've seen them before.... I mistakenly thought they were slugs until I was "shown" the light. Way cool video Gloria!!!

Very informative. I have to agree with benj...and would likely have thought the same as Lib, had I encountered one on land. Perhaps I'll know better after viewing this.

Ah the lowly leech. When we went swimming in the local pond near our house in NH we always got a leech or two on us. Our girls when they were young were freaked out, a bit of salt and they dropped off. Think "African Queen" with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.

Whenever we have a tough job that we are reluctant to get back to after a break, we always say "Back to the leeches" quoted from the movie. Poor Bogey alway was a trooper!

The series "House" makes good use of them too for medical purposes. They always like a good gross out moment. I'm still paranoid about tapeworms since the first episode!

My grandson is fascinated with them!
He wanted to keep one for a pet but I've NO idea what to feed it but live minnows so we kept it about a week and he sadly let it go again.
