Green Fire on Public Television Nationwide in April!

Quote:
Green Fire made its public television debut last year in Wisconsin, and now it's going nationwide! We've been working with individual public television stations across the country to show the film on or around Earth Day this spring. To date, stations in over 30 of the nation's major metropolitan areas have confirmed their intentions to air Green Fire and we're still waiting to hear from others.

I'm really starting to scan through the PBS stations, I have 3 living in the Detroit Area. Yes I have Antenna TV.

Hopefully I'll catch it.

Last weekend they had a show about a man that trekked up to Alaska and built a log cabin by hand.

If you are talking about Richard Louis "Dick" Proenneke, I've watched that documentary several times. It was titled 'Alone in the Wilderness". Actually I think there were two documentaries about his adventure. They were shown for a couple of years during every PBS pledge drive in my area.

His skill and ingenuity both as a carpenter and a carver were fascinating.

If you grew up in the country with fishing and hunting as part of your lifestyle as I did, building a log cabin in the wilderness was one of those boyhood dreams. Even though I probably knew at the time that it would never happen it was still enjoyable to think about it.

Richard Proenneke - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think he and Aldo Leopold would have enjoyed each other's company.

I've watched "Alone in the wilderness" several times as well and I love it. Your right about his skill as a carpenter being a carpenter by trade you don't run into to many guys that can use hand tools with that deft skill anymore. I love the way he made his door hinges!
