Default Illinois Nature Preserves Commission

Seems we may be getting a few more Nature preserves in Illinois. Still being evaluated for quality but it looks like about 185 newly designated areas.

New inventory finds more Illinois natural areas - Springfield, IL - The State Journal-Register

Wilker says the types of habitats in danger include freshwater marshes — there currently are no high quality examples — hill prairies and sand prairies
"We’re fortunate that we’re finding some really neat new areas,” Nyboer says. “Some of these little ones are just beautiful little gems. I’m really happy with what we are finding.

GOOD for you!
It saddens me to see the wild wild west has homes upon every hill and valley Not many open plains left anymore.
One needs these areas saved for the wildlife and plants, as well as a place to rest ones eyes upon.
