Default Unwanted!

Admittedly, their message is somewhat confusing at first. They may be onto something here.

REWARD for repelling members of the Invasive Species Gang: Millions of dollars in expenses avoided, many native critters saved
By Mike Stahlberg
The Register-Guard

Sports: Outdoors | "UNWANTED!" | The Register-Guard
excerpt from above:
Like a solitary sheriff in the Old West, Rick Boatner is responsible for a vast territory filled with too many “bad guys” to round up single-handedly.

So Boatner, Invasive Species Wildlife Integrity Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, wants to deputize members of the public to help battle wildlife that does not belong in the Oregon Territory.

Boatner’s main focus: Oregon’s 10 Most Unwanted Species, a gang of non-native invaders that threatens to disrupt ecosystems and cause millions of dollars in economic damage.
He might be able to pull it off.
The tendency of man's nature to good is like the tendency of water to flow downwards.

We have those stupid Asian Carp here. They can literally knock people out of boats by their jumping. They start jumping from the sound of boat engines.

The pond posse concept involves the public. If the public can be educated on why the eastern bullfrog doesn't belong, he's got a good shot at pulling this off. I'd love to be able to track how his public relations campaign does. This unwanted is right up there with the Alien Plant Working Group's Least Wanted campaign, PCA Alien Plant Working Group: Fact Sheets and WeedUS List It's catchy and gets the point across. Nobody is willing to get involved until their ox starts getting gored. This brings the issue of invasives to a level where the public can understand their ox is getting gored.

Sounds like a program that might appeal to kids - kind of like "deputies" to the Texas Rangers. Kids love environmental issues - after all they are the ones who inherit the Earth - they have an interest in learning to take care of it.
