Amid all the gloom and doom, an article about this whale rescue came up on my news page. It is nice to have something to be happy about, however small it may be within the larger picture. ‪Humpback whale gives show after being rescued.‬‏ - YouTube

What an amazing find, Hedge! Thank you for sharing.
My eyes welled up a bit watching it--it was very moving. I even got Jeff's attention and interpreted it for him. Great to see him smile. Thanks for a bright spot among the gloom and doom...I have to remember to turn off the news more often. ![]()

I'm sure you caught the little girl's comments at the end. The footage was amazing. That last breech photo was National Geographic material. I woulda given my I teeth to have been there. Those folk saw more breeches and tail slaps in one hour than I've seen in my entire life!!! Way cool Pope!

I would be inclined to think that the whale is trying to make sure that whatever stuff pulled him down almost to his death is no longer on him at all. And to do this he did a lot of splashing around.
Nice story though ![]() |

...at the same time, I think they are intelligent creatures, so who knows... but how would it know that humans would enjoy seeing that?

...and it doesn't diminish the fact that these people had an amazing encounter and feel so great about saving such an amazing creature. That is what had me tearing up...BEFORE I saw all of the amazing breaches.
