Baudette men convicted of selling minnows illegally | FOX 21 Online
Two Baudette men have lost their commercial minnow licenses for three years after being convicted of attempted illegal selling of wild animals.

John D. Hult, 69, and Kim D. Barsness, 55, were accused of using equipment infested with invasive species to take minnows from Upper Red Lake in 2009. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said the invasive species came from Lake of the Woods.

Hult and Barsness were convicted last week in Beltrami County District Court. Besides having their commercial minnow licenses revoked for three years, the two face fines and court costs of $1,500 each and will be on probation for two years. A judge issued a six-month jail sentence but stayed the sentence, meaning the men won't have to go to jail as long as there are no similar incidents. Their equipment was forfeited to the state...
