I saw this on a Facebook group, and I hope pasting here still.allows access.
There is a free download of a beautifully done, quality handbook about life in vernal pools: "Announcing the release of Vernal Pools - Documenting Life in Temporary Ponds. It is available today as a free download from the North American Nature Photography Association: Free Handbooks – NANPA® This e-book, part of the NANPA Handbook series, contains 70 pages of photography and natural history. It features images and observations from nearly a decade of vernal pool work by Steven David Johnson Photography, several fascinating photographic salamander behavior studies by Dave Huth, and essays on geology and conservation by vernal pools expert, Michael S. Hayslett. Text and photography: Steven David Johnson Additional images: David Huth Forward and additional text: Michael S. Hayslett Acknowledgments: Thank you to NANPA Executive Director Susan Day and the NANPA conservation committee for making this book possible. Thanks to EMU for granting the gift of a sabbatical to enable fieldwork and research time, and special thanks to AnnaMaria Johnson for graciously putting up with many late nights in the field and being so supportive of this project. - Steve Content Editors: Michael S. Hayslett, Dave Huth Copy Editors: Julie Patterson, Anna Maria Johnson Readers: David Hand, J.D. Kleopfer"

Yes, access and download both worked - thanks Dapjwy.
This is how it went for me. Your link goes to this page: Free Handbooks – NANPA® There you click on "Download" and it takes you to this page: https://nanpa.informz.net/NANPA/pages/VernalPools_Ebook On this page you enter your email address and click on "download", which goes to this page: https://docsend.com/view/vpayg8b363s2dgn6 At the DocSend page you can simply look at the document or download it by clicking on the down-pointing arrow on the top menu. Beautiful photography and a lot of good info on vernal pools and their critters!

I am so glad that you were able to navigate it, find it, and provide instructions for others. Not sure why it wasn't a direct link. It truly is quality work. The photography was stunning. It makes me want to try to get some underwater shots in my pond. I don't expect the same quality, but I'd be thrilled to even come close.
