Thanks for the link! Very interesting.

I was amazed how bear research regarding hibernation could eventually be used to analyze osteoporsis and depression in humans.

One behavior discussed in the interview was that bears hibernate, but are not true hibernators. They CAN be disturbed from their "sleep" in winter. I knew this from attending the course at the North American Bear Center in Ely, MN, and this explains the reason why I NEVER stuck my head into the tunnel that opened into the "lower level" of our enormous brush pile last winter.
